Mandalay Industries

This is Mandalay Beach on Western Australia's southern coast and is named after the ship that was wrecked here. If you look closely at the middle of this photo you'll see some timber sticking out of the beach. This is actually part of the Mandalay, I shit you not, and is only revealed every now and again when the tides are right. According to Lonely Planet this is supposed to happen every ten years, but the lady in the visitor's centre said it had come up a few times in the last couple of years. Still, we felt lucky to see it.

It was, but was up an 8km dirt track which Alison was not that keen on driving along, especially after we'd just gone 15km on a different track nearby.
